PRICE SITUATION: Year-On-Year
The CPI for all income households for the province of Camarines Sur remained at 160.4 index points in August 2010 since the month of July 2010. This figure is 3.55 percent higher than the CPI in August 2009 of 154.9 index points.
This month’s provincial inflation rate is 3.6 percentage points. Compared to June 2010 inflation rate, this month’s rate is lower by -5.26 percent.
The level of the province’s inflation rate could be attributed to the changes in the indices of major commodity groups, namely, Fuel, Light and Water (9.17%); Food, Beverages and Tobacco (3.57%); Services (2.33%); Clothing (1.33%); Miscellaneous (1.55%); and Housing & Repairs (3.07%).
PRICE SITUATION: Month-On-Month
Prices in Camarines Sur remained the same since July 2010. There was no change in its posted index points of 160.4. A higher price gain was noted in Cereal and Cereal Preparation group index at 0.35 percent from -0.12 percent in July. Increase in Beverages were however slower from zero growth in July to 0.06 percent in August. Slower price increments were also noted in Food at 0.31 percent, Fruits and Vegetables at 1.39 percent, and Miscellaneous Foods at 0.90 respectively. Eggs reflected a decrease of -0.06 percent, the same with Fish index at -0.35 percent and Meat index at -0.55. Prices of Dairy Products remained stable as its index had zero growth from 146.9 index points.
Non-Food items recorded a decrease of -0.44 percent from 158.4 to 157.7 index points. Clothing and Housing and Repairs recorded an increase of 0.08 percent and 0.07 percent. Services group reflected a decrease of 0.16 percent from 188.3 to 188.6, Fuel, Light and Water also decreased by -2.18 percent. Miscellaneous group remained at its posted index point of 130.9.
As a result of the price trends cited above, the Purchasing Power of Peso (PPP) of the province of Camarines Sur remained at 0.62.
