A forum on the Labor Force Survey(LFS) and the Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) was conducted by the National Statistics Office - Camarines Sur and the College of Arts and Sciences of the Department of Social Sciences of the Ateneo de Naga University. About 200 college students and faculty of the said department converged at the Arrupe Convention Center in the Ateneo de Naga Campus on September 23, 2010 to attend the one and a half-hour Forum that started at 4:30 P.M. up to 6:00 P.M. A statistical exhibit was also displayed at the Arrupe Convention Center during the Forum. The exhibit was later displayed at the College of Arts and Sciences for its students.
PSO Clemente S. Manaog presented the background, concepts, objectives, and latest results of the LFS while OIC-Regional Director Cynthia L. Perdiz presented the salient features and latest results of the FIES which was later posted at the NSO CamSur Website (www.nsocamsur.webnode.com). In her welcome remarks, Dr. Lydia T. Goingo, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences expressed her delight that the forum finally pushed through as it was a "dream come true for the Department and for Mr. Manaog" who always wanted to give lecture to his Alma Mater.
Officers and Members of Economics Society of Ateneo de Naga University coordinated the Forum while SCO I Aspe and dela Torre, and Assistant Statistician Agustin of NSO CamSur provided Secretariat support.
Dr, Bernadette Gumba, Associate Professor, Social Sciences Department, who declared that portions of the lecture will form part of the final examinations of the students, expressed her intention to conduct another forum, this time of price statistics, CPI and other establishment-based statistics during the second semester of school year 2010-2011.
